Creature from the Black Lagoon

There are a few “classic” monsters from the past that everyone has heard of. You know, Dracula, Frankenstein, the wolf man and so on. And there are a few monsters that we often forget when we talk about the “classic” ones. The creature in the 1954 movie “Creature from the black lagoon” is one of those. It’s too bad, because when I saw this movie a few weeks ago, I realized that it is a real cool dude in the title role.
It has been many years since I saw “Creature” the first time. I was just a little puppy, and the television was having a 3D festival, with all those horror movies from the past. The one I remember best was the one with the h2o lizard-man, whom never missed a chance to reach out his scary claw hand from our television screen.
When “Universal Studios” a couple of years ago decide to release their “Classic Monster Collection” I was very pleased to find “Creature...” among the titles.
The story is this: a couple of adventure-Scientist goes hunt for the creature. The creature falls in love with the woman of the adventure-scientist. He kidnaps her and disappears down in the dark water of the black lagoon. The rest of the expedition goes after them to save the girl.
Creature from the black lagoon is a superb Sunday movie. There are plenty of under water scenes, and therefore many chances to take a nap (Admit it, everyone loves to sleep in front of a old black and white movie!).
On the DVD many extra materials comes, including a documentary where the talk about a special scene that is in this movie. They mean its issexual undertones in the scene when the female star swims in the lagoon and the monster swims right under her. And I see what they mean, but when I saw the scene I thought it was the scariest thing I have ever seen in an old monster movie. I never swim in dark water again.
I suggest you go and get a copy of Creature from the black lagoon.
