Renny Harlin had the guts to direct a movie he knew would be compared to classic evil fish movie JAWS. And against the odds, he created a movie that's really good. The truth is the only thing similar to "Jaws" is the base (shark want to kill us). Harlin take the concept and transforms it to something new. Way to go Renny!

The story is that a couple of scientists get trapped in an underwater laboratory. The experiment with the sharks has gone wrong. Fishes are smarter then Mr Einstein, and they developed a test for human meat.

I must say that I did not expect too much of this 1999 movie. But I was wrong. It's a good horror movie. The script is well written. The acting is good. Even hobby actor L Cool J makes a good portrait of " The crazy funny chef with a talking bird".

The atmosphere in this movie is make me think of Star Wars, when Luke and the other are aboard on Vader's spaceship, and they fall down in a sewer room, were there is a monster under the surface. Buts that's just me, having something wrong in my head.

A thing I don't like with "Deep Blue Sea" is the computer made sharks. They are so fast and so aggressive in their attacks that it looks unrealistic. The FX makers have excessive their work, so it ended up too perfect. The sharks are too sharp.

I like this movie, and I recommend you go FISH for your own copy! (Ha! I'm funny)
