"Mystery Science Theater 3000" move over or should I say "thanks for holding Joe Bob's spot." Joe Bob Briggs proves he is one of the most knowledgeable and funny horror movie critics out there.

I knew going into this DVD that the movie "Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter" would be a cheesy, schlock-fest. The movie itself is horrible. It's not even so bad, that it's good. The film, and I use that word very loosely, tells the story of the outlaw Jesse James and his dim-witted buddy Hank. While on the run from Marshall Macphee, Jesse and Hank decide that it would be wise to hide out in the castle where Baron Frankenstein's granddaughter Maria lives. Wait a minute, granddaughter. Yeah, you read that right. It isn't Frank's daughter but his granddaughter. It is in this castle, which seems to be the only castle build in the Old West, that Maria turns Hank into a hulking beast who she renames "Igor."

After watching most of the film, I admit I couldn't sit through it, I put on the audio commentary which I knew was the real reason this DVD was released. It turned out to be one of the most enjoyable DVD experiences I have ever had. Joe Bob Briggs' commentary is not only hysterical but it is very informative. Joe Bob really knows his stuff. You really don't have to even watch the movie, just the commentary. Briggs sums up each scene and of course, points out all of the plot holes and flaws, as only Joe Bob Briggs can. This is what "Mystery Science Theater" aspired to be. Joe Bob shows us why he is the best.

Joe Bob Briggs seems to know everything there is to know about the film, it's director and it's actors. I shocked at everything he knew. I can go on enough about how much I enjoyed the trivia. My favorite would be how he dubbed this film the "Resume Killer," because 90% of the people who worked on the film never worked on another film again. Either they died, dropped off the face of the earth or went on to do tv only.

If there is one flaw I see in the DVD it's the menu. I know it may sound like I am nit-picking but the menu seemed thrown together. It just need a little tweaking. For example, when you click on an option (Commentary, select a scene, trailers, ect) there is a noticeable delay before a Joe Bob sound bite plays. But this is really minor.

This DVD is a compendium every horror fan MUST HAVE. If you’re a fan of Joe Bob Briggs run out and get this, you will not be sorry. If you've never heard of him (shame on you) check out this DVD and you will instantly become a fan.
