A Film By Garrett White

Filmed in the remote local of Oregon, Necropolis Awakened begins with one of the best car chases I have seen on a shoe string budget. Fast cars and blazing guns grab the viewer and throw them headlong into the story.

The isolated town of Skyhook has some unwanted visitors….Zombies! The entire town has been overrun with the undead and their leader Nefarious Thorne. Now it’s up to one man and one man alone to save Skyhook. That man is Bob, the alcoholic, unexpected hero. Unfortunately, Thorne has brought in the of the best hired guns money can buy and they are hot on the trail of Bob. That is the story surrounding the ultimate in B-movie zombie horror.

The acting is so bad that it actually works. I really should say the overacting is so bad it’s good. Duke White does a great job portraying, not only Bob, but also Judas, the leader of the hired guns. I’m going to admit something here. I didn’t even realize that Duke White played both roles until the credits rolled. My jaw dropped. I have never been fooled that bad by a movie before. It made me like the movie all the more. The rest of the cast does a fairy good job of keeping the story moving but it’s Duke White who steals every scene. Whether he is the hero or the villain it’s hard to take your eyes off him.

Garrett White mixes action, horror and a bit of cheese. And there is plenty of cheese. The zombies look to mask with makeup applied over them. The zombies dance around when attacking people. There are some really spectacular gore scenes in Necropolis Awakened. A zombie has its arm blown right off in wonderful blood squirting action. Another has it’s face ripped off by a car tire, you have to see it to believe it. By the far the best make up belongs to Nefarious Thorne who has a constant stream on saliva dripping from his mouth.

My only complaint is that I felt there were times when they may have been taking themselves too seriously. At times, I wasn’t sure if I was meant to laugh or cry. Sometime I did both. Overall I recommend this film to anyone who likes low budget B-movies. If Peter Jackson’s Bad Taste is your type of movie, you will not be disappointed with Garrett White’s Necropolis Awakened.
